Background of Ikram QA

IKRAM QA Services Sdn Bhd, referred hereinafter as IKRAM QA, is an independent Certification Body that operates a Product Certification Scheme generally for construction products. IKRAM QA was incorporated as a company on 23rd March 1999 as a fully owned subsidiary of Kumpulan Ikram Sdn Bhd., referred hereinafter as Kumpulan IKRAM.

As a matter of record, Kumpulan IKRAM was the concessionary company which supplies "IKRAM SERVICES" to the Malaysian Government Agencies effective from 1st January 1997 after the privatization of Institut Kerja Raya Malaysia or IKRAM, through a Privatization Agreement signed between Kumpulan IKRAM and the Government of Malaysia.

Since the privatization of IKRAM, Kumpulan IKRAM has embarked on a series of carefully considered reorganization and has not only strengthened the traditional training and research activities of previous IKRAM, but also expanded into new areas; as a provider of tertiary education and project-management consultancy services through formation of various subsidiaries. The formation of subsidiary companies were to ensure that their core business remains focused, enabling the subsidiaries to provide better services to the customer.

It was for this reason that IKRAM QA was incorporated mainly to focus on product certification. As a result, IKRAM QA has attained and maintained its competency as a product certification body through accreditation by the Department of Standards Malaysia according to ISO/IEC 17065.

IKRAM QA is also an appointed independent body to provide certification and listing of local construction product for use in government projects. The appointment was made by the Ministry of Finance Malaysia through the 1 Pekeliling Perbendaraan (1PP), PK 1/2013 Punca Kuasa, Prinsip dan Dasar Perolehan Kerajaan.

Aside from product certification, IKRAM QA also provides testing services through its Material Testing Laboratory which is accredited according to MS ISO/IEC 17025.

Generally, client seeked for IKRAM QA product certificate of conformity generally for the following purpose:

a) for listing in the directory of local product that is published annually by IKRAM QA,

b) for getting approval by "National Water Commission of Malaysia" (SPAN) for product to be used in water and sewerage industries;

c) for getting Certificate of Approval for certain imported products from Construction Industries Development Board (CIDB) of Malaysia.
